Chris Overton is an Academy Award® winning director, member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a founder of Slick Films. He began his career as an actor and worked on various TV and film projects with directors such as Joel Schumacher and Roman Polanski. He also stars in BAFTA Award-winning film ‘Pride’, directed by Matthew Warchus.

Chris made his directorial debut with ‘The Silent Child’, for which he received the Academy Award® for Best Live Action Short, as well as over 50 other international awards with ‘The Silent Child’ and his second short,
‘Leader’. His latest film ‘in too deep’ had its World Premiere at the prestigious Landshut Kurzfilm Festival in Germany.

Chrus is working in collaboration with Aardman on children’s animation series ‘Libby’s Silent World’, winner of the BFI’s Young Audiences Development Award. He is attached to produce feature films backed by Broadway Cinema and BFI Network.

Chris has also directed commercials with Havas, FCB Inferno, Wunderman Thompson and Beiersdorf. His commercial in the UK for the hugely successful Huawei Story Sign Christmas campaign, won seven Lions at Cannes (four of which were Gold), eight One Show awards, three D&ADs and a Grand Prix at Eurobest.

Chris has supported first time filmmakers across twenty short films so far through his Academy® Award winning production company, Slick Films.
